Sawyer"s 1st Birthday

Saturday, September 19th was Sawyer's 1st birthday party.  I was crossing my fingers and hoping it would be nice outside.  We had to pay $53 to rent the shelter at one of the parks because our house isn't big enough to accomodate everyone.  Luckily the day turned out to be perfect and we had a fantastic turn out.  (Thanks to all the family and friends who traveled near or far to join us!)

He had lots of fun playing with all the little kids.

His favorite gift came unwrapped (a Tonka dump truck), so he started playing with it before cake and ice cream or the other presents.  He even managed to get the big kids to push him around in it.

Once it was time for cake we had to distract him in order for the party to continue without his truck.  I am very greatful we stripped him down to his diaper because that blue frosting would have never come out (thanks Albertson's for the free cake).  I thought of everything we would need at the park except something suitable to clean him up post cake, but after 50 wet wipes we were ready to open gifts.

He sat on Tony's lap and helped tear the paper or pull out the tissue paper, occasionally making the car wreck noise in excitement (That's what I call it, you know the sound when you gasp.  He makes that noise a lot when he sees something he thinks is neat.)  He received lots of nice clothes and fun toys.  (Thanks again!)  We got to visit with family, eat cake, and watch Sawyer enjoy the outdoors.  I couldn't have imagined a better 1st birthday for our little man!
