Happy St. Patrick's Day

I think St. Patrick's Day is so fun.  When I was little my mom used to always get me green snowballs (you know the unhealthy marshmallow, coconut, chocolate cake, and frosting in the middle yumminess).  When I taught school, I used to read fun books to the kids and then we would search around the room for what the leprechaun had left us (generally his gold "chocolate coins").  I wanted to make it a fun day, but my husband was at work and Sawyer doesn't really understand yet, so I was at peace with this year's festivities being low key.  In the morning I had a doctor's appointment (my ultrasound is scheduled for April 16th), so my friend Angela watched Sawyer for me.  Afterwords, I was feeling very hungry for Geraldine's (only one of THE best bakeries in our city) and I had a coupon for buy one sandwich, get one free, so I ordered two 1/2 turkey sandwiches, a cup of soup, and two of the biggest sugar cookies I have every seen.  I went to pick up Sawyer and we all decided to have a picnic in the park with our yummy treats. (Bummer that I didn't bring my camera.)  Angela, Hailey, & Ellie came with us and we had so much fun.  The kids played and nibbled on lunch and the delicious cookies.  Sawyer didn't eat really, he just wanted to roam around and play.  Funny how the park can have that effect on kids.   
Here were the highlights of the day:
We saw a green poodle someone had dyed for the day's festivities and Sawyer loved it.
He received lots of comments on his new cute shoes (seen below).
He LOVED running around, enjoying the beautiful day.
He enjoyed the swings.
I enjoyed his cute little shirt that said, "It's me lucky day."
Tony got to have green Gatorade and green Tootsie Rolls when he got home. 

All in all, it was a lucky day to be outside and enjoy the previews of the spring.

Valentine's Day!

Oops, I forgot to post the photos from heart day.  I had to work on Valentine's day for 8 hours bussing tables, so maybe that is why I didn't get these up.  Anyway here they are.  

He enjoyed lots of surprises that we got in the mail.  A new Buzz Lightyear beanie from my mom & Kenny, a chocolate frog from Uncle Kade, and more yummy treats from them all. 

 

We got him a piggy bank, a book, and box of chocolates (that he shared with mommy.)  

Tony brought me home these super springy, beautiful flowers and I enjoyed them for 2 weeks.

Salt Lake for the Weekend

Here's a couple of little tidbits that will explain our weekend jaunt to S.L.C.

During tax season, Tony has to work many, many hours and a half day on Saturday too.
His office gives their employees one Saturday (usually the 1st one in March) off.
He has passed all 4 sections of the exam, but 2 have expired.
Unfortunately, they will both expire just after tax season ends unless he can pass them again :(

That being said, we had to venture to the big city in order for him to take a shot at ridding this horrible test from our lives.  Wasn't he so lucky to get to study in a hotel and take an exam on his weekend off!  We felt bad for him, but Sawyer and I got to spend time with Kari, Adam, and Jayci.  Sawyer and Jayci were funny together.  Each one had a hard time sharing with the other.  They played pretty well together overall.

We went to dinner with the Griffee's at Fuddruckers.  It was delicious!  Tony and I had never been there, but seriously I thought their burgers were better than Five Guys (Tony's favorite).  Sawyer enjoyed a HUMONGOUS rice crispy treat for dessert.  Our hotel was awesome, clean, and had an amazing continental breakfast.  We also took Sawyer to Hogle Zoo and ate at a little deli close to the zoo.  It was short and sweet, but we had fun.  Here are some photos to prove it. 

The baby elephant was so cute.  She would roll those balls around with her trunk.  Sawyer liked to do the sign for elephant.

The giraffes were beautiful and Sawyer also liked doing the sign for giraffe.  (We learned lots of the animal signs from Sesame Street one day.)
